Who Killed Aditya Karikala Cholan In Ponniyin Selvan, Who Is Aditya Karikalan Wife?

Ponniyin Selvan

Indian author Kalki Krishnamurthy’s historical fiction book Ponniyin Selvan (The Son of Ponni), written in Tamil, is based on actual events. From 29 October 1950 to 16 May 1954, it was first published in serial form in the weekly issues of the Tamil magazine Kalki. In 1955, it was combined into five volumes. It covers the early life of Chola prince Arulmozhivarman in roughly 2,210 pages. Kalki made three trips to Sri Lanka to collect information for inspiration. The book is frequently recognized as the best book Tamil literature has ever produced.

Who Killed Aditya Karikala Cholan In Ponniyin Selvan?

K.A. Nilakanta Sastri claimed that Uthama Chola was the target of suspicion. Some believed Raja Raja was involved in the murder. Based on the Udayargudi inscriptions, Kudavayil Balasubramanian has written a thesis in which he asserts that neither Raja Raja nor Uthama Chola was involved in the murder. Aditya Karikalan was murdered as payback by the Pandyas for chopping off the Pandya King’s head and keeping it on display in the open.

Who Is Aditya Chola II?

Aditya II, also known as Aditha Karikalan, was a Chola prince who flourished in India’s 10th century and reigned from 942 to 971 CE. He was the eldest son of Parantaka Chola II and was born in Madurai. He was Kundavai and Rajaraja Chola; II was the older brother. Virapandiyan Thalai Konda Koparakesari Varman Karikalan was his name. At the Battle of Chevur, he overthrew the Pandya ruler Veerapandyan while leading the Chola campaign against the Pandyas.

Who Is Aditya Karikalan’s Wife?

Aditya II, The titles of these three men are mentioned in the inscription, which is another crucial detail. We can infer from these titles that two of them occupied important positions in the Pandya Kingdom and one in the Chola Kingdom. His wife name is Ilaada Madeviyar.

The Three Major Suspects Who Killed Aditya Chola II?

Uttama Chola

Aditya Karikalan (as well as Rajaraja Chola) had an uncle named Uttama Chola. The first question is: Why do so many people think he killed Aditya Karikalan? He said this is because following the passing of his father Gandaraditya, he witnessed the coronation of his cousin Sundara Chola, his uncle Arinjaya, and eventually his cousin’s son Aditya Karikalan as the Crown Prince.

Rajaraja Chola

Kings frequently engage in conflict with one another to seize a throne. However, killing one’s sibling is extremely rare. And in my perspective, the Chola dynasty may not be all that immoral! I don’t regard Rajaraja as a suspect (especially since the populace praised him as the upright “Ponniyin Selvan” — The Son of Kaveri).

The Pandyas

One thing to remember is that Virapandya, the Pandya King, was defeated by Sundara Chola and Aditya Karikalan back when Sundara Chola was in power. Aditya continued his pursuit of Virapandya, cut off his head, and displayed it in front of his palace in Thanjavur. The Pandyas could have murdered him in retaliation for their King’s brutal murder.
