Recently disclosed records provide insight into the events of the day when law enforcement officials stated that an 18-year-old individual shot four individuals at an apartment complex in Plano last month. Franklin Lee Barnes III is currently being held in Collin County Jail, facing charges of murder, attempted murder, and aggravated assault for the March 29 attack at the Cross Creek Apartments.

According to his arrest warrant affidavit, Barnes seemed to single out two victims, resulting in the death of one man and the injury of his girlfriend, while also randomly shooting two other individuals in the face. Bail for Barnes has been set at $1.25 million.

Barnes claims that he and his girlfriend smoked most of the marijuana while driving to Plano, where he bought more from his friend Quintarius Young. Later that morning, the Plano police received a report of a shooting spree that injured three people and killed Young, whom Barnes referred to as his friend. Barnes denies any involvement in the shootings and said he was devastated by the loss of his friend.

He stated that he returned to his McKinney home after purchasing drugs from Young, spent some time with his girlfriend, and then fell asleep until the police arrived at his home later that day. Barnes faces charges of murder in Young’s death, as well as two counts of attempted murder and one count of aggravated assault. He is being held in the Collin County jail on a $1.25 million bond.

Two other individuals, both employees at the apartment complex, were also interviewed by police. One employee stated that he passed by Barnes on his way to an apartment in the same building as Young’s, and they exchanged a head nod before Barnes shot him in the face. Another employee witnessed the shooting and was assisting the victim when Barnes approached and shot her in the face as well.

Both survived their injuries, and Barnes fled the scene in a gray vehicle. The arrest warrant affidavit indicates that Arlington police believe Barnes is linked to two other deaths that occurred on the morning of the Plano shooting. According to Lt. Christopher Cook, a spokesman for the Arlington police, investigators are looking into this connection.

According to witnesses, one victim of the Plano shooting encountered Barnes before he was shot, while another victim was shot while assisting the first victim. Barnes then fled the scene in a gray vehicle. Arlington investigators suspect Barnes of also being involved in the deaths of Joshua Daniels and Winston Davis, who were found shot to death in a car in an Arlington apartment complex on the same day as the Plano shooting.
