He held the position of hosting the early morning breakfast show on LBC until 2024, making him the station’s longest-serving presenter. Following that, he joined the United Biscuits Network, a radio station specifically catering to workers in the United Biscuits factories. Having joined LBC in 1979 as a presenter for the Night Extra program, Allen expressed his gratitude to the listeners over the past 44 years, stating that it had been an honor and privilege.

He mentioned that his contract with LBC was nearing its end, and after discussions, he had made the decision to step down. The news was also confirmed by a representative for Global, who expressed their appreciation for Allen’s exceptional dedication to commercial radio, making him one of the longest-serving radio presenters in the UK. As for his future career plans, the 69-year-old broadcaster has not disclosed any details. It is possible that he may take some time off to spend quality moments with his family.

Allen initially started his career as a nightclub disc jockey, where he had the opportunity to meet his longtime friend Dale Winton. Later, he joined the United Biscuits Network, a radio station that catered to workers in the United Biscuits factories, allowing his voice to be heard across Scotland, Liverpool, Manchester, and London.

When UBN ceased operations in 1979, Allen joined LBC as the presenter of the Night Extra program. He then went on to host The Night is Young on the same station. As LBC split into two stations, 1152 AM and 97.3 FM, Allen became the host of the afternoon show for “London Talkback Radio” (later known as LBC London News 1152) and Saturday Night Out. Additionally, he worked for Blue Danube Radio in Vienna, a station sponsored by the United Nations.

Allen became well-known as the host of the early breakfast show on LBC, airing from Monday to Friday between 4 am and 7 am. However, on February 24, 2024, he announced his departure from LBC, with his last show being aired on February 17.
