Where to Watch Jujutsu Kaisen Other than Crunchyroll?

Jujutsu Kaisen

Jujutsu Kaisen, also known as “Sorcery Fight,” is a popular Japanese manga series created by Gege Akutami. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump since March 2018. As of July 2024, the series has been collected into 23 tankōbon volumes. The story follows Yuji Itadori, a high school student who becomes part of a secret organization of Jujutsu Sorcerers. He is tasked with eliminating a formidable Curse known as Ryomen Sukuna, which he unwillingly hosts.

Notably, Jujutsu Kaisen is a sequel to Gege Akutami’s previous work, “Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School,” which was serialized in Shueisha’s Jump Giga magazine from April to July 2017. It was later compiled into a tankōbon volume and retroactively titled “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” in December 2018.

In North America, the manga is licensed by Viz Media and has been available in print since December 2019. Shueisha publishes the series in English on the Manga Plus online platform. Additionally, two novels based on the series, written by Ballad Kitaguni, were published in May 2019 and January 2020.

The manga’s immense popularity led to the production of a 24-episode anime television series adaptation by MAPPA. It originally aired on MBS from October 2020 to March 2021. A highly anticipated second season premiered in July 2024. Crunchyroll holds the license for streaming the anime outside of Asia and introduced an English dub in November 2020. The anime’s original soundtrack was released in April 2021.

Jujutsu Kaisen Plot

Jujutsu Kaisen centers around Yuji Itadori, a remarkably athletic high school student in Sendai. On his grandfather’s deathbed, Yuji receives two crucial messages: “always help others” and “die surrounded by people.” Trouble emerges when Yuji’s friends at the Occult Club accidentally unseal a cursed finger talisman, attracting Curses to their school. In a bid to protect Jujutsu Sorcerer Megumi Fushiguro, Yuji swallows the cursed finger, becoming the unwilling host to the malevolent Curse named Ryomen Sukuna. As Sukuna is exceedingly dangerous, sorcerers aim to exorcise him and, consequently, Yuji.

However, Yuji manages to retain control over his body, leading to a proposal from Megumi’s teacher, Satoru Gojo. Gojo suggests postponing Yuji’s death sentence and training him to consume all 20 of Sukuna’s fingers, ultimately eradicating the Curse. Meanwhile, a group of Cursed Spirits, including Mahito and corrupted sorcerer Suguru Geto, plot a multifaceted attack on the world of Jujutsu sorcery.

The story unfolds as Yuji, Megumi, and fellow first-year student Nobara Kugisaki undergo training to become sorcerers. However, a mission gone awry grants Sukuna full control over Yuji’s body, prompting Yuji to make a drastic decision.

The narrative introduces new characters, alliances, and formidable challenges, culminating in a final showdown between sorcerers and malevolent forces, with Sukuna and Kenjaku at the center of it all. Crunchyroll

Crunchyroll, LLC, operating under the Crunchyroll brand, is an American entertainment company headquartered in Coppell, Texas. Its primary focus is on the distribution and licensing of anime, films, and television series. The company’s origins trace back to May 1994 when it was founded as Funimation Productions by Gen Fukunaga and his wife Cindy in Silicon Valley. Initial funding for the company came from Daniel Cocanougher and his family, who became investors.

Funimation later relocated to North Richland Hills and subsequently to Flower Mound, Texas. In May 2005, Funimation was acquired by the Navarre Corporation. However, in April 2011, Navarre sold Funimation to a group of investors that included Gen Fukunaga, in a transaction valued at $24 million.

Notably, in October 2017, the Japanese conglomerate Sony acquired Funimation. Since 2019, Sony has overseen the company’s operations through a joint venture involving two of its subsidiaries: Sony Pictures Entertainment (specifically, Sony Pictures Television) and Sony Music Entertainment Japan (through Aniplex).

A significant development occurred in March 2022 when Crunchyroll, LLC underwent a rebranding. This rebranding was the result of Crunchyroll’s acquisition of a streaming service bearing the same name in August 2021. As a result, the company adopted the Crunchyroll, LLC name, solidifying its presence in the anime and entertainment industry.
