Real-life Lamar BMF

BMF, Starz’s next drama series, has been a long-time passion project for Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. Hip-hop fans are familiar with the infamous Flenory brothers and how they turned their criminal enterprise into a production company. Terry “Southwest T” Flenory (Da’Vinchi) and Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory (Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr.) started their careers as small-time drug traffickers in Detroit in the 1980s when they were just teenagers. They went on to become two of the country’s most powerful drug traffickers. Is their major enemy Lamar (Eric Kofi-Abrefa) based on someone real? Randy Huggins and 50 Cent wanted to make sure that the show was as realistic as possible because the Flenorys and their family were on board for the series. Huggins told Urban Hollywood 411, “I took a few liberties, but everything there is based on a narrative.” “Of course, names can’t be in there.” Some of the locations have undoubtedly changed.” Huggins, on the other hand, was adamant about staying true to the events of actual life. He stated, “I don’t think there’s a character in there that I haven’t heard of.” “I may need to exercise some artistic licence in order to make a piece of art stand out a little more.” It’s possible that I’ll have to use some artistic licence to make a scene more amusing than it was, but that’s all part of the fun.
