From there, navigate to the Vow of the Disciple Raid node and you will see the Preservation mission node just below it. Click on the node and you will load into the mission. While it is possible to complete this mission solo, it is recommended to have two other players in your fireteam to make the process faster. Additionally, note that completing the symbol puzzle in Preservation requires a fireteam of three and is necessary to progress towards unlocking the Exotic Ghost Shell.

How To Complete Destiny 2 Preservation Mission?

To complete the Preservation puzzle in Destiny 2, you will need two other Guardians in your fireteam. The puzzle involves interacting with symbol tablets in a specific order to enter a code and solve the puzzle.

To start, you need to find the symbol code. Look for a clear window on the wall to the right of the entrance to the puzzle room. Jump through it to get to a small room with a wall that has four columns of three symbols on it. Each column represents a command to follow to enter the code correctly.

The top symbol in each column is the Guardian symbol and can be ignored. The middle symbols in each column tell you how to interact with the symbols in the main puzzle room. The Enter symbol means someone must stand in front of the symbol. The Commune symbol means you need to follow the ‘Activate’ button prompt in front of the symbol. The Kill symbol means you must shoot the symbol.

The bottom symbol in each column is random and indicates which symbol tablet you need to interact with in the main puzzle room. For example, one column might read Guardian, Enter, Drink, which means you should stand in front of the Drink symbol in the main puzzle room.

To complete the puzzle, Player 1 stands directly in front of the symbol indicated by the bottom symbol in the first column, and Player 2 does the same for the second column. Once Players 1 and 2 are in position, Player 3 interacts with the symbol indicated by the bottom symbol in the third column. The player who can see the Guardian symbol tablet should shoot it as quickly as possible to activate it and complete the code.

If you enter the code correctly, you will get a lore entry, and the symbol tablets will go blank. If not, you can reset the puzzle by going back into the secret room through the window and standing in front of the code to get a button prompt to reset the symbol tablets and try again.

Note that you cannot complete this puzzle solo, and if you’re completing it in the Vow of the Disciple Raid, you can have a fourth player ready to shoot the final symbol instead. If you’ve already completed Preservation for the week, you can return to orbit after solving the puzzle and restart the mission to complete the puzzle again if you need to for the Imperious Sun Exotic Ghost Shell.
