Fall Movie Ending Explained, Who Dies in the Movie?

Fall

Directed and co-written by Scott Mann and Jonathan Frank, “Fall” is a 2022 survival thriller film featuring Grace Caroline Currey, Virginia Gardner, Mason Gooding, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The movie follows two women stranded at the top of a 2,000-foot (610 m) tall television broadcasting tower. Lionsgate Films released the film on August 12, 2022, grossing $21 million worldwide against a $3 million budget. While the movie received generally positive reviews for its direction, atmosphere, cinematography, suspense, and performances, it was criticized for its screenplay, special effects, and pacing. Lionsgate released Fall in theaters on August 12, 2022, in the United States, with a distribution and marketing budget of $4 million. The film was later made available digitally on September 27, 2022, and was released on Blu-ray and DVD on October 18, 2022. On August 12, 2022, Lionsgate released Fall alongside Mack & Rita and Bodies Bodies Bodies wide expansion in the United States and Canada. The film was expected to earn $1-2 million from its opening weekend in 1,548 theaters.

On its first day, it made $923,000, and eventually debuted with $2.5 million, placing 10th at the box office. Despite this, it was the highest-earning new release for the week.  The film has grossed $7.2 million in the United States and Canada, and $13.5 million in other territories, with a total worldwide box office of $20.7 million against its $3 million budget. As of January 15, 2024, it is still being shown in China, following its release on November 18. In March 2024, a sequel was announced due to the popularity of the film’s release on Netflix.

Fall Movie Ending Explained

Producers have announced that the sequel will feature a new terrifying tale set at a great height, with no connection to the characters from Fall. This decision was wise, as it is unlikely that Becky (Grace Fulton) will ever climb a tall structure again after her experience in the first movie. Fall follows Becky and her friend Hunter (Virginia Gardner) as they climb an abandoned radio tower in the desert, only to become stranded 2,000 feet above the ground with no assistance. Becky and Hunter’s chance for rescue appears when they acquire a drone located on the communication dish below them. Hunter, who had an affair with Becky’s husband, decides to risk her life to retrieve the drone for them. They write a message asking for help and attach it to the drone, sending it toward a nearby diner.

However, their hopes are crushed when the drone is hit and destroyed by a truck before it reaches the diner. Determined not to give up, Becky attempts to send a message to her father using her mobile phone. Hunter previously tried the same approach by sending her phone down the tower in her shoe, but it was destroyed on impact. Becky decides to use more padding and asks Hunter for her other shoe, but Hunter’s body is on the communication dish, and the shoe is nowhere to be found. Despite the tragic end to Hunter’s life, Becky manages to send a message to her father and ultimately gets rescued. The film’s intense and suspenseful storyline, coupled with strong performances by the lead actors, has left audiences eagerly anticipating the upcoming sequel. Fall is a must-see for fans of survival thrillers and those looking for a heart-racing cinematic experience.

Who Dies in Fall?

Despite the tension between them, Becky and Hunter set their differences aside and worked together to retrieve the drone. Hunter climbed onto a small satellite platform to grab the bag, using a selfie stick to attach it to the rope. However, on her way up, Hunter fell back onto the platform. Thankfully, Becky was able to pull up both the bag and Hunter to safety, avoiding a tragic ending like Dan’s in the beginning of Fall. The shocking twist also sheds light on why Hunter seemed to have superhuman strength and resilience during her climb. It wasn’t because she was miraculously surviving impossible situations, but because she was never actually there. Becky struggles with the reality of her situation and the guilt of imagining a friend to keep her company in her darkest hour. After Hunter was injured, Becky took charge and climbed to the top to set up a beacon light with her wedding band. Upon sending a drone for help, it was hit by a truck on its way to a nearby motel with an SOS message, which left Becky shattered. This led to a shocking revelation that she had been hallucinating Hunter, and his death had already occurred from the fall onto the platform. Becky was left wondering why Hunter didn’t catch the falling bag, and the audience also wondered why he didn’t warn her about the truck.

Fall Movie Review

Last month, Jordan Peele settled pre-release debates about the title of his summer hit Nope by revealing that it wasn’t an acronym for “not of planet earth”, but a nod to the common audience response during horror movies. Fall, a new and ridiculous yet thrilling low-budget movie, is set to elicit the same response from cinemagoers across the US this weekend. Despite a weak setup that takes some effort to endure, Fall manages to erase all doubts and deliver a suspenseful and exciting action movie. The film centers around Becky, who, after suffering a devastating loss, joins her estranged friend Hunter on a climb to the top of a 2,000ft tower. Once at the top, disaster strikes, and the pair are left stranded.

The film’s premise is ludicrous, but director Scott Mann manages to make the high-in-the-sky danger feel scarily real, using visual effects and camera work to create an immersive and thrilling spectacle. While the script lacks believable justification for the character’s actions, the film compensates with grounded and competent character actions, puzzle-solving, and committed performances from the cast. Fall is a throwback against-the-odds thriller that delivers a thrilling punch and proves to be a remarkable underdog in a sea of big-budget blockbusters. Despite its flaws, “Fall” delivers a thrilling and entertaining experience that will have audiences on the edge of their seats. The film’s low budget is not apparent in the impressive visuals and skilled direction. While the premise may seem silly, the execution is surprisingly effective. “Fall” is a testament to the power of a well-executed concept, proving that sometimes the simplest ideas can be the most thrilling.

Fall Movie Recap

In the movie “Fall,” the characters Becky (played by Grace Caroline Currey) and Hunter (played by Virginia Gardner) embark on a dangerous climb up a 2,000-foot radio tower in a remote location. Becky is dealing with the loss of her husband Dan, who died while rock climbing a year earlier. Hunter, wanting to help her friend heal, proposes the climb as a way to scatter Dan’s ashes and confront their personal demons. Through this journey, Hunter hopes to rekindle her friendship with the once-adventurous Becky and help her overcome the tragic event that has left her feeling depressed. During the autumn season, the pair of companions were stranded on the tower as a result of a deteriorating ladder, causing their supplies to fall onto a satellite platform. They were left with only a 50-foot rope, a water bottle, and a drone with a dead battery, which left them feeling helpless. After three nights passed, they still had not been rescued, and the lack of cell service only added to their mental anguish.

The movie primarily takes place on the tower, with flashbacks and hallucinations providing insight into the characters’ pasts and struggles. As the days pass and their supplies run out, Becky and Hunter must confront their fears and personal demons to survive. The tension and suspense build as their situation becomes more desperate, and they are forced to make difficult decisions to stay alive. “Fall” is a well-acted and intense movie that explores themes of grief, friendship, and survival. It is a powerful reminder of the human will live and the strength we can find in ourselves and our relationships, even in the most challenging of circumstances.
