Girls Incarcerated: Young and Locked Up is an American documentary television series that premiered on Netflix on March 2, 2018. The show featured the teenage inmates of the Madison Juvenile Correctional Facility in Madison, Indiana, which has since closed. The focus of Season 2 changed to the adolescent inmates at LaPorte Juvenile. The sitcom was not formally renewed for a third season by Netflix, and no release date has been set.
The documentary draws light on an under-discussed problem – juvenile incarceration in America – by highlighting the daily challenges of young women spending time in Madison Juvenile Correctional Facility in Indiana. The kids we meet on the show are frequently victims of a system that is rigged against them, and a few are able to start over and abandon their imprisoned lives aside; others never do. It’s a documentary that’s both tragic and inspiring, giving you hope while also potentially encouraging you to take action. Our jail system has a lot of work, particularly concerning how we treat juveniles, as Girls Incarcerated sadly demonstrates.

She was introduced in the show as a 17-year-old, outspoken adult when she was arrested for a series of infractions involving drinking, armed robbery, and drug use at the juvenile detention institution. Throughout the season, we saw Brianna work on herself and turn her life around in the hopes of a brighter future. She even worked hard to become someone her family could be proud of, and she was rewarded with parole. Source suggests that she was back in custody for violating her probation. Today, she is still in Indianapolis and has a popular YouTube channel with over 130,000 subscribers. According to her Facebook page, she has a young boy, she shares with Cortez. Briana once mentioned in a Q&A in 2019: “From the cries to the pouts, I just love him. Like, I wouldn’t trade him for the world. He’s so special to me.”
During her time in the juvenile detention centre, Paige struggled to calm herself. Paige had difficulty controlling her rage when she initially arrived on the show. She had a dispute with co-prisoner and castmate Heidi Lakin, and the two couldn’t agree on anything. Paige, like the majority of other documented inmates, began to improve herself and manage her troubles. Her desire to improve as a person made her a fan favourite. We even saw her heal fences with Heidi during the broadcast. She is now a mother. Paige welcomed a newborn boy into the world in 2018.
Each of the series’ teen characters has compelling stories to tell, but Heidi’s was tough to watch. She revealed she had been physically and sexually molested as a child and had developed anger issues as a result of the harassment. Due to her actions, her discharge was delayed. She is presently out of jail and recently revealed to her social media followers that she had a miscarriage. She captioned the violent shot, “RIP, little one.” Her traumatic background had a lasting imprint on her mind, leading to troubles that led to her incarceration. She was observed battling to control her wrath all through the season.
After attending her substance abuse therapy at the centre, Aubrey was sentenced to nine months in prison. However, she fled away shortly after her release, citing her troubled connection with her mother, who was also battling drug addiction. Following Aubrey’s release, which was covered on the show, she returned to Portage, Indiana, where she still resides. Aubrey also attempted to mend wounds with her mother, but their relationship was devastated when she left for her heavenly dwelling in 2021. However, now that Her dear ones accompany Aubrey, we feel she will have a better time set for her. She posted many pictures over the year 2020, but she hasn’t updated in a long time.
Taryn, a high school gymnastics fanatic, requested to be sent to a juvenile correctional facility as punishment after killing her closest friend in a car crash, and her narrative was heartbreaking. She was noted on the series for her love of cartwheels. Taryn is now an average teen who enjoys Snapchat filters. Taryn is now based in Vancouver, Washington, where she spends time with her family and friends. She and her partner are also in a great relationship. The couple revealed that they were expecting a child in September 2021.
Armani’s bond with fellow student Alexis Miller won the Netflix series’ fans. During her time on the show, Armani Buckner’s connection with Alexis Miller brought her fame. Their love tale, however, did not end happily. Armani even tried hard to modify her ways and wanted to make a fresh start following her release. However, it appears that the couple has gone their separate ways since then. Armani is said to live in Evansville, Indiana.
Armani wrote on her Facebook page: “We never breaking up so … yeah. I love you.” Unfortunately, it sounds like things took a turn because currently, her page reads “single AF.”
You met Sarah in the Netflix series, who had been in and out of foster care since she was five years old owing to her mother’s drug addiction. She said that she began getting into trouble She said that she began getting into trouble in her teens as a means of retaliating against her mother.
“I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for showing me so much support from the Netflix show,” she wrote on Facebook. “Your guys’ words give me motivation to keep doing better. And setting my goals higher. Your words mean the world to me. I’m happy to know that sharing my story has helped.”
Sarah now lives in Muncie, Indiana, and lives a more fulfilling life encircled by her friends and family. Sarah declared that she would be a mother in December 2021, despite her social media profile showing that she is single.
Najwa Pollard spoke openly about her troubled childhood, including her father’s abuse, but what was even more heartbreaking was the fact that she was incarcerated indefinitely at the Madison Juvenile Correctional Facility because she had no family members to whom she could be released. Unfortunately, Najwa keeps her personal life wholly secret and avoids social media. And currently, it appears that Najwa is still detained. Her Facebook post, dated January 15, 2016, detailed the scenario. When her grandmother inquired about her whereabouts, she said, “In lockup.” She appeared to have earned her release and was doing well, according to a 2018 Tweet from social services counsellor Jacie Minnick.
With her fantastic nature, Jacie, a former psychiatric social services counsellor, captured the hearts of all the ladies she assisted. According to her Instagram, she is currently married, lives in Austin, Texas, and works as a volunteer organiser.
