Gang Beasts is a fun fighting party game made by a small independent company called Boneloaf from England. At first, another company called Double Fine Presents was going to release it, but starting from May 2020, Boneloaf decided to release it on their own. Later on, a company called Skybound Games released a physical version of the game.
It came out for Windows, macOS, Linux, and PlayStation 4 on December 12, 2017. Before that, there was a testing phase for the PC version that started in August 2014. It was also made available on the Xbox One on March 27, 2019. Finally, a version for the Nintendo Switch was released on October 12, 2021.
Yes, Gang Beasts supports crossplay, allowing players on different platforms to join in on the fun together. The developers recognize the desire for friends with various gaming setups to play together and have committed to implementing cross-platform gameplay in future updates. As of now, there’s already crossplay available within the Microsoft ecosystem, enabling players to engage in chaotic battles across last-gen and current-gen Xbox consoles as well as Windows devices.
However, it’s important to note that if you’re playing on a PC, the crossplay feature is exclusive to the version purchased from the Microsoft Store and is not available in the Steam version of the game. So, while crossplay is in the works, there are specific platform considerations for seamless multiplayer experiences.

As of now, Gang Beasts doesn’t directly support cross-platform play between Xbox and PS4. However, the game developers are working on making cross-platform gaming possible in the future. Right now, there’s crossplay available within the Microsoft ecosystem, meaning Xbox consoles and Windows devices can play together.
But if you’re on a PC, the cross-platform feature is limited to the version from the Microsoft Store, not the Steam version. So while they’re working on it, joining the fun between Xbox and PS4 players directly isn’t an option just yet.
In Gang Beasts, you control these silly, floppy characters and it’s all about wild, crazy fights in this city called Beef City. Picture this: you’re brawling in places like alleys, rooftops, and even on moving trains! At first, the game had eight spots for you and your friends to battle it out, and you could dress up your character, too.
The main thing is to throw punches, kicks, and whatever else you can to knock your opponents out cold. But here’s the twist: even when someone’s down, they can try to wiggle back into the action. There’s this whole mix of chaos and strategy as you try to toss your pals into dangers like fiery incinerators or off the edge of buildings. And the best part? You’ve got a whopping 21 different places to duke it out, from bustling city streets to wacky, unpredictable settings like blimps and trawlers.
