Pauline Joyce Meyer, born on June 4, 1943, is a well-known American Charismatic Christian author and speaker, and the head of Joyce Meyer Ministries. She lives in the suburbs of St. Louis, Missouri with her husband Dave and their four adult children. Meyer was originally born Pauline Joyce Hutchison in 1943 in South St. Louis, where her father went to war shortly after her birth. Upon his return, he allegedly began to sexually abuse her, which she later discusses in her speeches. Despite this traumatic experience, she still retains her working-class St. Louis accent.
Meyer graduated from O’Fallon Technical High School in St. Louis and married a part-time car salesman after finishing high school. Their marriage lasted five years, but she claims her husband was unfaithful and encouraged her to steal from her employer. They used the stolen money for a trip to California and she later returned it. After her divorce, she spent time in local bars before meeting and marrying Dave Meyer in 1967.

In 1989, she went for a routine checkup and was shocked to learn she had breast cancer. The cancer was a fast-growing type, and she was advised to undergo a mastectomy. This was a challenging experience for her, but she made the decision to trust in God and have faith in His plan.
Over the years, Joyce has had regular checkups and has received clean reports, until a few years ago when she experienced back trouble. She underwent further tests and was told she had lesions on her spine that could be cancer. Despite her fear, she chose to trust in God and wait for the results. The test came back showing that cancer had healed itself and she had no trace of it in her body. Through it all, Joyce remained steadfast in her faith and came out feeling better than before.
