In 1997, Phyllis Summers left the show and was replaced by Sandra Nelson. However, Nelson also departed in 1999, and the character was written off the show. Later, head writer Kay Alden brought back Michelle Stafford to reprise the role of Phyllis. Stafford played the character until 2013 when she left due to personal reasons and other projects. The Young and The Restless
The Young and the Restless, also known as Y&R, is an American soap opera that was created by William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell for CBS. The show is set in a fictional town called Genoa City, which is not to be confused with the real-life town of the same name in Wisconsin. Originally, the show aired as half-hour episodes five times a week and premiered on March 26, 1973. It expanded to one-hour episodes on February 4, 1980. The series has been syndicated internationally and previous episodes have been aired on SOAPnet and Pop. The show originally centered around two families, the wealthy Brooks family and the working-class Foster family, but over time, other core families were introduced, such as the Abbotts and the Williamses. The series has had a number of enduring storylines, including the decades-long feud between Jill Abbott and Katherine Chancellor, which is considered to be the longest rivalry on any American soap opera.
