Who Is Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan? 

Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan was an Army Officer from India. He had served in the elite 51 Special Action Group ofthe National Security Guards on deputation. Sandeep was martyred, while he was in action at the time of the November 2008 Mumbai Attacks. He won the Ashoka Chakra, on 26th January 2009 by then President of India, Mrs. Pratibha Patil.  Ashoka Chakra Award is India’s highest peacetime Gallantry Award, to honor the valor, courageous action, or self-sacrifice away from the battlefield.

He graduated in 1995 in the ISC Science Stream. He had a wish to serve in Army when he was attending School. He was a good athlete in his School Days. He had been a member of the school choir. He had a habit of watching movies. Sandeep Unnikrishnan was 31 years old when he died. He was born on 15 March 1977 and died on 28 November 2008.

The famous Sony Pictures Entertainment has registered two names, Major and Major Sandeep with the producers’ association, for their effort to make a biopic on his life. In the movie titled Major,  Adivi Sesh plays the titular role of Major Sandeep. The movie is produced by Telugu actor Mahesh Babu. The principal photography of the film started in February 2020 and the movie was released worldwide on 3rd June 2022.
