During a recent coronavirus benefit live stream organized by Offset of Migos, popular rapper Young Thug revealed that he had been hospitalized for over two weeks due to liver and kidney failure. The Atlanta-based artist described his frightening experience of being unable to move his body and being taken to the hospital by ambulance. During his hospital stay, Young Thug learned that he had suffered both liver and kidney failure, and even had a moment where he “kinda died.” After leaving the hospital, he visited another medical facility, where he was informed that he was lucky to be alive given the severity of his condition. Despite the severity of his health scare, Young Thug ended the interview on a positive note by performing “Killed Before,” a song from his 2017 mixtape with Atlanta rapper Future, Super Slimey.
Young Thug has been in police custody since his arrest in May and is presently undergoing a trial. His attorney, Brian Steel, filed an emergency motion on May 13th, criticizing the inhumane prison circumstances and requesting a bond, which was later denied. In the plea, Steel mentioned that Thug has been detained in solitary confinement or total isolation in a cement cell with only a bed, toilet, and overhead light that remains on all day and night, depriving him of sleep, rest, or meditation. According to Steel, the rapper has no access to media, TV, or the internet, and no freedom to exercise, shower, or have human contact. Gunna, in an Instagram post, condemned the poor jail conditions and shared an open letter to his 4.4 million followers. The jury selection for the trial commenced on January 4th and is expected to extend into February.
Jeffery Lamar Williams, also known as Young Thug, was born in Atlanta as the tenth of eleven children. He grew up in the Jonesboro South projects in the Sylvan Hills neighborhood of Atlanta’s Zone 3, where other prominent rappers like Waka Flocka Flame, 2 Chainz, Ludacris, and PeeWee Longway also hail from. In fact, PeeWee Longway, a childhood friend of Williams, lived just four doors down from him. In interviews, Young Thug has revealed that he got expelled from school in the sixth grade for breaking a teacher’s arm. As a result, he was sent to juvenile prison for four years.
Young Thug is a highly acclaimed singer and rapper from America who has achieved remarkable success and popularity within a short span of time. He is well known for his unique and distinctive voice and has gained significant recognition for his mixtapes. His music stands out from the crowd and is quite influential, particularly among the younger generation. Apart from his music, Young Thug’s net worth is also an indication of his success, which currently stands at an impressive $10 million.
Young Thug has had six children with four different women, three sons, and three daughters, becoming a father at the age of 17. He got engaged to Jerrika Karlae, who runs a swimsuit line, and whose mother used to manage the late Young Dolph, in April 2015. Young Thug bought his first home, a luxurious mansion with over 11,000 square-feet, six bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a full bar, a theater room, and a four-car garage, in Buckhead, Atlanta, in September 2016, shortly after the release of his mixtape Jeffery. Unfortunately, Young Thug has had to endure tragedy as well. During his childhood, one of his older brothers was shot and killed in front of their family home, leaving a lasting impact on his life
