Jordan Janway Obituary: The NASCAR legend Jimmie Johnson’s wife Chandra Janway’s brother Jordan Janway passed away in 2014 at the age of 27.

Who was Jordan Janway? 

Jordan Janway is Jimmie Johnson’s brother-in-law who passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014, in San Diego, California. He was born on December 2, 1986, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Lynn (Norriss) and Jack Janway. After completing high school, Jordan attended Northeastern State University before relocating to Chicago to undergo basic training. Following this, he moved to San Diego, where he served with the U.S. Naval Special Warfare from 2007 to 2008.

It was during his time there that he discovered his passion for skydiving and dedicated himself to the pursuit. Jordan became a highly skilled master parachute rigger and free-fall instructor for Tactical Air Operations. He also took on roles as a camera operator, coach, and tandem instructor for Skydive San Diego.

Affectionately known as “Jordo” by his friends, he progressed to wingsuit base jumping, which ignited his love for true flight. He embarked on exhilarating adventures across the globe, leaping off mountaintops, with his favorite destination being Switzerland.

Jordan is lovingly remembered by his parents, Lynn (Norriss) and Jack Janway, as well as his beloved grandmothers, JoAnn Janway, Tookie Hart, and Imaree Donoho. He is also survived by his siblings, Chandra Janway Johnson and her husband Jimmie, Marianne Janway Robinson, and Caleb Janway. In addition, he leaves behind his nephews, Seth Robison and Dalton Janway, and nieces, Genevieve and Lydia Johnson.

A memorial service honoring the remarkable life of Jordan Janway will take place on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at 5:00 pm. The service will be held at the Butterfly House and Gardens, situated within the beautiful Honor Heights Park in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Reverend Cindy Culver will preside over the service, providing solace and support to those in attendance.

Jordan Janway Death

Jordan tragically lost his life in a skydiving accident that occurred on Sunday, March 30, 2014, in San Diego, California. While engaging in a jump at 13,000 feet to practice a maneuver called tracking, he collided with his jump partner.
