The seventh season of the reality TV show Married at First Sight made its debut on 3rd February 2020 on the Nine Network. The season featured the return of relationship experts John Aiken, Mel Schilling, and Trisha Stratford, who were also part of the previous season. Their task was to match 11 brides and 9 grooms, bringing them together in a unique social experiment. Notably, this season marked a significant milestone as the show introduced its first same-sex couple since Australia passed marriage equality laws.
During the course of the experiment, the experts made an additional match of 2 brides and 2 grooms, expanding the number of participants. Among the newly matched couples was Elizabeth Sobinoff, who viewers may remember from her appearance in season 6. This twist added further intrigue and dynamics to the unfolding relationships within the show.
Married at First Sight Season 7 offered a mix of anticipation, surprises, and challenges as the couples embarked on their journeys to find love. Viewers witnessed the ups and downs, joys and struggles, and the complexities of forming connections in such a unique and unconventional setting. The season showcased the diverse experiences and emotions of the participants, ultimately creating a captivating and memorable viewing experience.
Here are updates of Married at First Sight Australia Season 7, as of 2021.
Poppy Jennings and Luke Eglin didn’t last as a couple after Poppy had a meltdown on their wedding day. Their relationship didn’t progress further after the show.
Seb Guilhaus and Elizabeth Sobinoff, who appeared on the show together, are no longer in a relationship. They announced their separation in January 2021, expressing gratitude for the support they received from their fans.
Amanda and Tash, the show’s first lesbian couple, didn’t continue their relationship after Tash expressed a lack of spark with Amanda the morning after their wedding. They went their separate ways, with Amanda sharing a post on Instagram criticising her wife before the official split on the show.
Vanessa Romito and Chris Nicholls had a good initial connection, but they faced numerous arguments, which ultimately led to their breakup.
Natasha Spencer and Mikey Pembroke didn’t have a promising start, and viewers were skeptical about their compatibility. They left the show as friends, choosing to skip the final dinner party.
Josh Pihlak and Cathy Evans initially seemed like a strong couple, but their relationship didn’t last long, and they eventually broke up. Luke, another participant, hinted that Cathy might have been acting differently off-camera.
Hayley Vernon and David Cannon appeared to have a chance at a happy ending, but Hayley’s disgust and subsequent revenge led to their departure from the show.
Aleks Markovic and Ivan Sarakula, both real estate agents, shared many similarities and had a strong bond. However, during the reunion episode, it was revealed that they were no longer together. Ivan’s growing closeness to another participant, Mikey, allegedly influenced their breakup.
Mishel Karen and Steve Burley faced issues when Steve disclosed that he had cheated in a previous relationship. The couple had arguments, and at the final vows ceremony, Mishel criticized Steve, leading to their decision to separate.
KC Osborne and Drew Brauer had a promising start, but despite their commitment to making it work at the final vows, they ultimately decided to remain friends. KC later dated another participant, Michael, but they broke up in August 2020.
Connie Crayden and Jonethen Musulin initially had a good start, but their relationship began to show cracks when Connie referred to Jonethen as “immature.” The couple faced challenges and ultimately decided to end their relationship.
Stacey Hampton showed no interest in her match, Michael Goonan, from the beginning. When asked if there was a chance of them getting back together during a Q&A, Stacey responded with a strong negative statement.
