Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the blockbuster title from Insomniac Games, is set to receive a significant update on the PlayStation 5, enhancing the gaming experience with new features and additional content. Community Director James Stevenson recently shared insights on the PlayStation Blog about what players can expect in the upcoming version 1.002 update, including the introduction of New Game+ and exclusive DLC suits.
The eagerly awaited New Game+ mode is a highlight of the upcoming update, allowing players to revisit the game with all previously unlocked suits and abilities right from the start. This mode not only extends the gameplay but also introduces new Ultimate Levels, providing even seasoned gamers with fresh challenges. Additionally, several new suit styles, particularly for Peter Parker’s symbiote suits, will be available, offering players more options to customize their character’s appearance in-game.
Alongside the New Game+ feature, Insomniac Games is set to release new suits for both Peter Parker and Miles Morales. The Hellfire Gala suits, designed by renowned artists Russell Dauterman and Bernard Chang respectively, will be added to the game free of cost. Furthermore, the update will introduce the Fly N’ Fresh suits, initially available as paid DLC for $4.99, but slated to become free at a later date. These additions are sure to add a fresh layer of excitement for fans of the franchise.
The upcoming update is also focused on making the game more accessible to a wider audience. New features such as audio descriptions and screen readers are being implemented to assist visually impaired players. Moreover, enhancements like cinematic captions and high contrast outlines are included, ensuring a more inclusive gaming experience for all players.
Shortly after the release of patch 1.002.000, players discovered access to a debug menu that was not intended for public use. This hidden menu allowed for skipping chapters and enabling cheats, which posed a risk of corrupting save files and trophy progress. Insomniac Games has acknowledged this issue and is actively working on a hotfix to resolve it, urging players to avoid using the debug menu to prevent potential data loss.
Interestingly, the debug menu also hinted at possible future DLC content involving the Beetle, a notorious villain from the Spider-Man universe. Details about a “Beetle Villain Arc” were found within the menu, suggesting new missions and storylines could be in development. While neither Sony nor Insomniac has officially confirmed these plans, the leak has certainly sparked excitement and speculation among the gaming community.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 continues to thrive, with these updates promising to enhance gameplay and accessibility significantly. Whether you’re a veteran of the series or a newcomer, the upcoming features are bound to enrich your experience as you swing through the streets of New York City as the beloved web-slinger.
