When Stacy Arthur became a Playboy Playmate, she answered calls on the magazine’s 900 telephone line without realizing the potential danger. Tragically, just a few months after being named Playmate of the Month, she witnessed the murder of her husband James Arthur by one of her fans. The murder is documented in the Investigation Discovery program “The Playboy Murders: All That Glitters,” which covers the killer James Lindberg’s suicide.

Who Is Stacy Arthur?

Stacy Arthur, hailing from Naperville, Illinois, had a supportive upbringing in a tight-knit family. At a young age, she developed a love for modeling and pursued it with determination, despite the encouragement of her loved ones. Throughout her career, she made a name for herself in the modeling industry through participating in pageants and working as a model. In 1990, while already a mother and married to James Arthur, she entered the Mrs. Ohio contest and had her husband’s full support in her ambitions.

Although James Lindberg seemed fixated on Stacy, she said he always respected her boundaries and even sent gifts for her and her children. But on October 29, 1991, things turned violent. The day before, Lindberg gave James a gift for Stacy, but the next day, he showed up at her apartment complex and ambushed James, shooting him multiple times and ultimately causing his death. Lindberg fled to a nearby parking lot where he was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and later died in a hospital. The tragedy came as a shock to Stacy, who had no indication that anything was amiss with her admirer.

Where Is Stacy Arthur Now?

Stacy Arthur believed her line of work wasn’t responsible for the tragedy, but expected Playboy to take action for the safety of its Playmates. She was disappointed when this did not happen. In 1992, she accused three staff members of raping her at the Playboy Mansion in 1991 on several TV shows. This resulted in her filing a $70 million lawsuit against Playboy, as well as two security guards and a butler who worked at the mansion and allegedly assaulted her.

After the lawsuit, Playboy cut all ties with her. The three accused staff members claimed the sexual encounter was consensual, but were fired for engaging in sexual activities during work hours. Since the tragedy and the lawsuit, Stacy has chosen to live a private life and has a minimal presence on social media, making her current whereabouts unclear.

Stacy Leigh Arthur, born on June 4, 1968 in Naperville, Illinois, is a model and actress who was named Playboy’s Playmate of the Month for January 1991. Along with her nude pictorial, she was featured on the cover with a banner that read “Miss January 1991.” She appeared in multiple Playboy videos throughout her career. Sadly, her husband James Alan Arthur, was murdered in a murder-suicide by a fan named James Lindberg in October 1991. Lindberg shot and killed him on a street in Bellefontaine where they lived before taking his own life.
