Unfortunately, due to complications and financial struggles, the business had to close, negatively impacting Crowder’s mental health. Tragedy struck again when his brother, Barry, died in a fatal accident in 1997.

Sadly, on November 10, 1998, Don Crowder died by suicide at the age of 56. Despite the challenges he faced, Crowder believed the Candy Montgomery trial to be either the pinnacle of his successful career or its downfall, while his friend Jim Mattox recognized Crowder for leaving his mark.
