Tyler Flip died in his home. He spent most of his childhood in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He attended Hinton Elementary School during his early years and later graduated from Putnam City High School. Interestingly, Tyler and fellow Street Outlaws star Justin Shearer, aka Big Chief, were childhood friends, and Tyler’s passing deeply affected Justin.
During his youth, Tyler worked as a storekeeper to support his passion for racing. He later secured a job with a construction company called Warren Caterpillar, where he worked for nearly a decade. The same company ended up sponsoring his drag racing career, propelling him and his 1980 Chevrolet El Camino to fame.
Discovery Channel launched “Street Outlaws,” a reality series, in 2013, delving into the world of street racing in the United States, which was intense, dangerous, and arguably illegal. Over the following decade, “Street Outlaws” amassed 14 seasons. However, recalling the earlier seasons of the show that started it all can be a challenge, given the vast content.
Most devoted fans would recall Tyler “Flip” Priddy from the very first season, as he was a member of the original group of street racers at the show’s center. Unfortunately, Flip passed away suddenly after filming only one season. Although Flip was not the only “Street Outlaws” cast member to have passed away, he was the first, and his untimely death left a profound impact. This is the story of Tyler “Flip” Priddy.
Tyler developed a fervent love for muscle cars and racing over the years, and his involvement in the sport eventually landed him a role on Street Outlaws. Despite appearing on the show only during its first season before his untimely death, Tyler’s impact has endured for nearly a decade.
Sadly, Flip passed away at the young age of 31, shortly after filming the first season of “Street Outlaws.” Regrettably, he never had the opportunity to witness the show’s success, which occurred almost immediately after his passing. Flip left behind his wife, Amber, and their four children, a heartbreaking loss for his family and friends.
Given the uncertainties surrounding the show, Flip likely never fathomed that it would gain such popularity over the years. Nonetheless, he helped launch his friends to stardom, cementing his legacy. More significantly, Flip’s loved ones have ensured that his memory lives on by making “Street Outlaws” a source of pride for everyone involved.
The cast members of Street Outlaws have paid tribute to their dear friend who passed away at the age of 31. However, they have never disclosed the specific cause of Flip’s death, and there is no official record available to establish the cause of his untimely passing.
The lack of an official cause of death for Flip has fueled various rumors throughout the years, suggesting different scenarios that could have led to the reality television star’s demise. It is known that Flip was found dead at his home in Yukon, California, on May 28, 2013. Despite the absence of an official cause of death, a prevalent theory suggests that the street racer accidentally took his own life while handling a firearm while under the influence of alcohol. Others have insinuated that Flip may have taken his life due to depression and rumors of infidelity. However, these remain unconfirmed speculations.
The details surrounding Flip’s passing have been deliberately shielded from public view by his loved ones and co-stars. All that has been verified is that he was at home when he died, and his passing had no connection to street racing, a commonly held belief due to the inherent hazards of the activity. Apart from this nugget of information, Flip’s family and friends have urged others to respect their privacy and keep the circumstances of his death confidential.
