Joshua Holt Hamilton is the real name of Josh Hamilton. He was born on May 21, 1981, in Raleigh, North Carolina, U.S. He is a former professional baseball player from the United States. From 2007 to 2015, he was an outfielder in Major League Baseball. Most notably, he was a part of the 2010 and 2011 Texas Rangers teams that won consecutive American League pennants. Hamilton, a five-time All-Star, won three Silver Slugger Awards and the 2010 American League Most Valuable Player Award. Along with the AL RBI title, he also took home the AL batting crown. He also played for the Cincinnati Reds and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim during his time in the major leagues. The Tampa Bay Devil Rays selected Hamilton as the first overall pick in the 1999 MLB Draft. Before injuries incurred in a 2001 vehicle accident and a drug addiction destroyed his career starting in 2001, he was regarded as a blue chip potential. Hamilton was chosen by the Chicago Cubs in the Rule 5 draft prior to the 2007 season but was later transferred to the Cincinnati Reds. He played in the MLB for nine seasons before retiring in 2015 due to repeated knee issues. Hamilton was charged with hitting his daughter in 2019, four years after he had retired.
Josh Hamilton was a five-time All-Star and former American League MVP who was known as baseball’s home run king during his prime. However, his career faded out of relevance quickly, and he last played in the big leagues in 2015. Hamilton had struggles adapting to life after baseball due to his battles with substance abuse. He was originally drafted first overall in the 1999 MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and spent years in the minor leagues working on kicking his drug habits. Hamilton played for the Cincinnati Reds before joining the Texas Rangers, where he emerged as a star and had a remarkable show in the 2008 MLB Home Run Derby. He signed a five-year, $125 million deal with the Los Angeles Angels in free agency in 2013 but largely failed to live up to the contract. 2019 marked Hamilton’s induction into the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame. Despite his struggles with substance abuse, Hamilton’s on-field performance was remarkable, and he left a lasting impact on the game. Today, he remains involved in baseball by sharing his story and helping others who may be struggling with addiction.
Josh Hamilton had a remarkable 2010 Major League Baseball season, winning the American League Most Valuable Player Award after hitting .359 with 32 home runs and 100 RBIs. However, his season was cut short due to injury, and he has not played in a Major League game since. Despite attempting a comeback by working out with the Texas Rangers and playing in some spring training games, it remains uncertain if the 34-year-old Hamilton will be able to return to the Major Leagues. It is more likely that he will sign with a minor league team to work his way back. Meanwhile, Prince Fielder’s absence from the Rangers lineup due to a herniated disc in his neck has affected the team’s on-base percentage. The Angels are also hoping for Hamilton’s recovery, as his projection for a 3.6 WAR is the highest since 2012. Although Hamilton was the top pick in the 2011 draft and was traded back to the Texas Rangers in 2015, his career was unfortunately cut short by a knee injury.
His last appearance in a Major League game was in 2015, after which he struggled with adapting to life outside of baseball. However, recent reports suggest that the 40-year-old Hamilton has been working on making a comeback. He has been spotted working out with the Texas Rangers, his former team, and even played in some spring training games. Though it’s uncertain if he will be able to return to the Major Leagues, he seems to be putting in the effort to try. Hamilton’s on-field performance was remarkable, but his career was largely derailed by his battles with substance abuse. Nonetheless, he remains involved in baseball by sharing his story and helping others who may be struggling with addiction. We will have to wait and see if Hamilton is able to make a successful return to Major League Baseball.
Hamilton was married to Katie (née Chadwick), Michael Chadwick’s daughter, who for a number of years helped him in his recovery from drug and alcohol misuse. When he moved back to Raleigh in 2002, they began dating. They got married in 2004. After 11 years of marriage, Hamilton filed for divorce from Katie in the early months of 2015, soon after another relapse into substance misuse. Along with Katie’s daughter from a previous relationship, the couple came up with three daughters together. Josh Hamilton, a professional baseball player from America, is believed to have a net worth of around $50 million.
