He woke up to her alarm at 7:30 AM the next morning and found her unresponsive. Despite his efforts to revive her with CPR, she did not survive. Kelly described the shock of discovering his wife’s lifeless body as an “electrical shock through his body,” and mentioned that they had been sharing the bed with their 3-year-old child. When asked about the cause of Emily’s death, Kelly Bills revealed that medical professionals had discovered previously unknown DNA mutations about three weeks after her passing. Her birthplace was Fort Polk (Leesville), Louisiana, but as a child, she lived in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Honolulu, Hawaii. Provo, Utah, was her hometown, where she passionately cheered for her beloved BYU Cougars and performed with the BYU Folk Dancers. Emily had a remarkable 3-point shot and enjoyed playing backyard basketball with her boys. She cherished spending time with her family at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and Newport Coast, California, where Kelly proposed to her. Emily graduated from Timpview High School in 2007 and Brigham Young University in 2012. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served many. At the time of her untimely passing on September 27, 2022, she was serving as a primary president in the Tassajara Creek Ward in Pleasanton, CA. Emily had a special love for children, and they adored her in return.
Kelly Bills are currently in his second season as the offensive coordinator for Dixie State. In his first year, the Trailblazers had an average of 421 yards of total offense per game, with almost 300 yards in the air, and an average of 31.4 points per game. Before returning to Utah in 2020, Bills spent a year as the offensive coordinator at NCAA Division-II Central Washington, where he helped lead the Wildcats to a 7-4 overall record and their third-straight Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship in 2019. Bills began his coaching career as an offensive quality control coach for Brigham Young University in 2008 and 2009, where he worked with wide receivers and quarterbacks. He then assisted in coaching quarterbacks and the offensive line from 2010 to 2012. During his time at BYU, the team had a 46-19 record and made five consecutive bowl game appearances.
