ISWAP Field Commander, Kiriku, Suffers Snakebite in Boko Haram/SWAP Stronghold

Kiriku, a key figure within the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP), was operating in the Jiddari axis of Chiralia in the Timbuktu triangle.

The Timbuktu triangle encompasses four LGAs in Borno state and one in Yobe state, known for being a stronghold of Boko Haram and ISWAP.

Kiriku was responsible for leading multiple attacks and ambushes against troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Borno.

Reports confirm that Kiriku was bitten by a venomous snake in the Sambisa forest, located in Borno state.

The circumstances surrounding the snakebite incident are still unclear.

Security forces are closely monitoring the situation for potential opportunities to exploit any weaknesses within the organization’s ranks.

Is Kiriku Dead?

Yes, Kiriku, a field commander of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP), has died in Borno state.

According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert specializing in the Lake Chad region, Kiriku passed away three days after being bitten by a snake.

The snake bite occurred in one of ISWAP’s hideouts in Damboa LGA of Borno.

Kiriku, who sustained the injury on Tuesday, succumbed to it on Friday.

It is believed that the lack of access to medical treatment contributed to the demise of the notorious ISWAP Commander.
