Lucia Villanueva is the successor to the Villanueva Cartel and the daughter of Sinaloan drug lord Mauricio Villanueva. Emily Rios plays Lucia Villanueva in the film. Emily Rios, an American actress, and model were born on April 27, 1989. On the AMC drama series Breaking Bad, she played Andrea Cantillo, for which she is most known. On the FX series The Bridge, she started playing newspaper reporter Adriana Mendez in 2013. Rios was brought up as a Jehovah’s Witness and is of Mexican origin.
Rios was formally uncovered while spending the day at a mall. She acted in the 2006 movie Quinceaera and the 2005 short film For Them. She made an appearance in the independent movie Vicious Circle in 2008. Additionally, she has appeared in repeat episodes of the television programs From Dusk to Dawn: The Programmes, Men of a Certain Age, Breaking Bad, The Bridge, and Friday Night Lights. On the drama Snowfall, which debuted on FX on July 5, 2017, she plays Lucia Villanueva, the daughter of a Mexican crime boss. In 2014, Rios came out as a lesbian.
Lucia is forced by Lorena to provide details about the drug trade in the area, and as a result, she outs Conejo. Conejo observes Lucia and realizes she set him up as DEA agents approach Kevin and make an effort to assassinate Conejo. Conejo confronts Lucia in an attempt to get retribution, but Gustavo steps in and saves her life at a considerable personal sacrifice. When Gustavo regains consciousness, Lucia has vanished from both his life and Los Angeles.
Lucia relocates to Miami after barely escaping Conejo in order to escape being used as a pawn by the authorities. Lucia decides to start a new life after realizing how dangerous it would be to work for the DEA or CIA given the number of opponents that may infiltrate these organizations. Does this imply, though, that Lucia’s on-screen persona Emily Rios won’t ever return?
In the ninth episode of the second season, Emily Rios makes her final appearance in the show. It appears she has quit the show because neither FX nor Rios has made any official statements about her possible comeback in the sixth season. Since the third season, the plot has changed, and the Villanueva Cartel arc is now over. Lucia won’t be appearing again in the season’s conclusion, according to co-creator Dave Andron.
He told Deadline that Lucia is no longer the center of Gustavo’s narrative since it has changed. Lucia is not a part of Gustavo’s future, according to Andron, who understood the frustration of unresolved questions. Rios might have wanted a break from the emotionally draining job, though neither FX nor Rios has given a reason for her departure. She has already talked about the psychological difficulties of playing Lucia. Rios said to Vogue that she struggled with the character’s gloom and wished she had understood how to let go of it at the end of each day.
The 30-year-old rarely updates her social media accounts, and she hasn’t spoken about her absence from Season 3 yet. She last discussed the program in a September blog post in which she stated,
“Family, friends, and fans… # Thank you for watching.”
In the comments area of an Instagram photo from February 20, we discovered a hint that she might be making a comeback. Amin Joseph, Emily’s Snowfall co-star, instructed her to “Bring him to set” after seeing a photo of her new puppy online. Does this imply that Lucia will appear again? Though the Los Angeles native could be prepared to let go of the nasty role, we hope so.
“It’s so dark, and it’s so heavy to take that home every day, so it took a lot for me to take it out of me, It’s fun to play, but I wish at that point I had known some kind of method of acting — because I never studied it — on how to let it go at the end of the day,” she admitted in a Season 1 interview.
In Snowfall, Lucia Villanueva’s character is still alive. Although co-creator Dave Andron has made it obvious that it won’t happen in the series’ final season, Rios’ Lucia is still eligible to return as Gustavo’s lover. “With regard to Lucia, I believe Oso’s story has advanced. He always wanted a family, and he thought he was going to get one with Lucia, but he soon saw that she wasn’t the right fit,” Andron told Deadline. Oso has discovered the item he has been seeking and that is very essential to him.
The co-creator said, “I know it’s upsetting to not have all the answers, but Lucia just isn’t his person anymore. There may be no use in anticipating Rios’ return to the show given that Lucia is not anticipated to be a part of Gustavo’s storyline in the remaining episodes of the last season.
John Singleton, Eric Amadio, and Dave Andron are the creators of the American criminal drama television series Snowfall, which debuted on FX on July 5, 2017. The television show follows aspiring drug dealer Franklin Saint (played by Damson Idris) as he negotiates to deal crack cocaine in South Central Los Angeles during the 1980s crack epidemic. The first crack epidemic and its effects on Los Angeles are the main themes of this television series, which is set there between 1983 and 1990. Other characters whose lives are destined to cross are 20-year-old drug dealer Franklin Saint, Mexican wrestler Gustavo “El Oso” Zapata, CIA agent Teddy McDonald, and Lucia Villanueva, the niece of a Mexican crime boss.
