Franky and Alex Venegas, better known as Kodiyakredd and Flyysoulja on TikTok, first posted their infamous TikTok song on October 12, 2021, and it has since received over 9 million views.
“Cause I’m an island boy, and I’ve been trying to make it / Oh, I’m an island boy / Ayy, I’ma just island boy, I’ma just island boy,” the catchy song goes.
The Florida brothers’ hit song has also made its way onto Twitter, where it has been mocked.
According to Distractify, comedian Andy Milanokis duetted the song in front of a large audience. The boys own their own business and have recently joined Cameo.
According to the Daily Mail, cops raided the Island Boys’ home after a man accused of killing an eight-year-old girl with a stray bullet lodged there for a few nights. The boys are not a part of the investigation.
The accused, Andrew Thomas, arrived at the house a few nights before the raid and slept on the TikTok stars’ couch before being arrested on Monday, according to the Daily Mail. Dovi Bezner, the boys’ agent, told WBPF that Thomas and the duo had been childhood friends.
“We had no idea any of this was going on, really,” Bezner said.
“We just knew him as a quiet kid, and he would come and hang out and do his thing and go back to whatever he was going on, but we had no clue about any of these allegations toward him. We just knew him as a good person, someone who grew up with the Island Boys.”
After their breakout song, ‘I’m an Island Boy,’ went viral last year, the Island Boys took over the internet.
Although the track received a lot of attention from listeners for its lyrics and bass-heavy beat, the two rose to internet fame for the same reasons.
Unfortunately, their claim to fame was fraught with controversy from the start. Between squabbles with Logan Paul, being booed at their first major live performance, and attempting to get into boxing matches with other influencers, the duo has created quite a commotion in the space… and it appears that things aren’t settling down a year later.
A TIKTOK duo’s rental home was raided after an eight-year-old girl was killed in a drive-by shooting. According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, a SWAT team executed a search warrant on the property on Monday. The house is currently being rented by TikTok duo Island Boys, also known as Alex and Franky Venegas.
The pair were not arrested, but cops did detain one of their apparent associates, murder suspect Andrew James Thomas, according to the outlet.
According to their manager, the boys grew up with Thomas.
However, Coral Springs Police Sgt Ernesto Bruna told the outlet that it is unclear whether Thomas was staying in the home or simply paying a visit to the social media stars.
Franky and Alex’s father died when they were six years old, according to Music in Minnesota. A single mother raised them.
During a No Jumper podcast episode, the brothers admitted to acting out as children. “We was out of control,” Alex admitted. Both brothers have been arrested for burglaries, robberies, and car theft. Franky also mentioned that he was facing a few drug charges.
The Island Boys have some money, despite the fact that they don’t have a record deal. Various sources give contradictory figures, but their combined net worth is estimated to be between $500,000 and $2 million.
While it may not be as much as they had hoped for, it demonstrates that TikTok can still be used to make a living.
