Micah Materre, an American journalist and news anchor, is currently employed by WGN-TV. She is a commentator, mistress of ceremonies, and honorary chairperson for several Chicago-area community and civic organizations. Micah is a member of Tutoring Chicago’s Advisory Board and the Chicago Children’s Choir’s Board of Directors. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the National Association of Black Journalists, and the civic organization Links, Incorporated. In January 1998, Micah began working as a medical reporter and co-anchor for Chicago’s WGN-TV. Micah has covered entertainment news and special assignment stories, including the historic inauguration of America’s first black President, on all of WGN’s newscasts.
Micah is a native Chicagoan because she was born and raised there. Micah worked as a general assignment reporter and main anchor for WJBK-TV in Detroit for eight years. Micah’s work at WJBK was recognized with numerous awards, including an Emmy and a Michigan Association of Broadcasters award. Micah began her career as a general assignment reporter and weekend anchor in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, before making the move to the Motor City. She was co-anchor of WGN Midday News from January 2003 to October 2009, before she was appointed anchor of WGN News at Nine in 2009.

Micah Materre has been featured in several local and national publications over the years, including Michigan Avenue Magazine, RedEye, Today’s Chicago Woman, Glamour, Ebony, Good Housekeeping, and “Who’s Who” in Black Chicago. She began her broadcasting career in 1983 at Chicago’s NPR affiliate WBEZ radio, where she spent four years producing and reporting. Additionally, she was a Columbia College instructor of radio production. Micah has worked as a journalist and broadcaster for more than 30 years. Micah was awarded a Chicago/Midwest Emmy in 2014, and Barnes and Thornburg LLP also recognized her as a diversity pioneer. There is not much information available about her vacation.
