The case and trial of Arne Johnson are also called the “Devil made me do it” case. It is the first case in the United States where the defence tried to prove innocence based on demonic possession. In November 1981, Arne Johnson was convicted of murdering his landlord, Alan Bono. His case was later turned into a movie called The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.  

Is Arne Johnson Still Alive?

Yes, Arne Johnson is still alive. According to the Glatzel family David Glatzel, their eleven-year-old was supposedly playing host to a demon. After a series of events with him, they called Ed and Lorraine Warren to investigate and cure him. They and the family then petitioned the church to perform an exorcism on him. Unfortunately, over the next few days, the demon fled the boy and took up residence in Arne Johnson, and Arne ended up killing his landlord.

Arne Cheyenne Johnson Now

Arne Johnson was sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison, but he was released after five years. He was released in 1986. He has since married a woman named Debbie Glatzel while in prison. He also got his high school diploma when he was in jail. The couple then went on to have two children. Debbie Glatzel has since passed away, and while Arne Johnson is still alive, there is no news about where he is. Lorraine Warren said he started working as a landscaper after he was released.

The tale of Arne Johnson was documented in the book The Devil in Connecticut by Gerald Brittle. This book was turned into the latest instalment of the Conjuring movie universe. The movie did dramatise certain parts, but they remained accurate to the original story. The film was originally due to come out in September 2020 but was delayed due to the pandemic. It eventually came out in June 2021. The movie made 206 million USD against the budget of 39 million USD.

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It

In 1981, Ed and Lorraine Warren documented the exorcism of 8-year-old David Glatzel. His sister Debbie and her boyfriend Arne were also present. When the exorcism happened, Arne invited the demon to enter his body. Ed witnessed this, but he collapsed from a heart attack and was taken to the hospital. When he woke, he told Lorraine what happened, and the couple then focused on solving the situation.
