Travel Guides is an Australian travel series that initially aired on the Nine Network on February 14, 2017. The show revolves around everyday Australians who become travel critics, embarking on week-long holidays both internationally and domestically. They explore various accommodations, sample local cuisine, and visit popular attractions, sharing their experiences and providing reviews.
The concept of Travel Guides was inspired by a similar program produced by UK-based Studio Lambert in 2015. Following its successful debut season, the series was renewed for a second season in May 2017. The second season, featuring three travel guide groups from the first season, premiered on January 29, 2018.
To continue the show’s popularity, a casting call was announced in March 2018 to recruit new groups for the third season, scheduled to air in 2019. The third season premiered on February 5, 2019. Recognizing its ongoing success, the series was officially renewed for a fourth season at Nine’s upfronts in October 2019. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fourth season’s release was delayed and it eventually aired on January 26, 2021.
In September 2021, during Nine’s upfronts, the series received an official renewal for its fifth season. The fifth season premiered on March 30, 2022, continuing to captivate audiences with its travel adventures. In recognition of its popularity and appeal, Travel Guides won the Logie Award for Most Popular Lifestyle Program in 2022.
Building on its previous achievements, the sixth season of Travel Guides premiered on April 19, 2024, offering viewers another opportunity to join the travel critics on their exciting journeys and entertaining escapades.
In the season of Travel Guides, there will be a change in the cast as Mel, Stack’s twin sister, will not be returning. While the rest of the cast members remain relatively the same as last year’s, Mel’s absence marks a departure from the show. However, Stack, the cowgirl of the group, will still be part of Travel Guides for the upcoming season. Instead of traveling with her twin sister, Stack will be seen alongside a new male travel partner.
The departure of Mel creates an opportunity for new dynamics and interactions within the show. Viewers will be eager to see how Stack adapts to her new travel partner and the adventures they embark on together. While Mel’s absence may be felt by fans who enjoyed her presence on the show, Travel Guides 2024 promises to bring fresh energy and excitement with the introduction of new cast dynamics.
