Wushu was introduced as part of the physical education programs in both high schools and universities. This new system aimed to incorporate fundamental elements from various styles and forms, as well as the overarching principles associated with Chinese martial arts. Stylistic concepts such as hardness, softness, internal focus, external focus, and classifications based on schools like Shaolin, Tai Chi, Wudang, and others were harmoniously integrated into a unified system.

Wushu became the officially endorsed standard for martial arts training in China, supported and sponsored by the government. This drive towards standardization persisted, leading to its widespread adoption.
