Hashirama and Madara fought in the Final Valley, and after some time, both were exhausted and severely wounded. This led Madara to deactivate his Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, and Hashirama was forced out of Sage Mode. They made one final clash; at that time, Hashirama was seen as defeated and weak. He tried to change Madara’s mind during the battles, but Madara didn’t give in. Then suddenly, Madara was impaled through the chest from behind by Hashirama, who had switched with a wood clone before they clashed. Madara acknowledged that Hashirama had changed and said that in the future, Konohagakure will be swallowed by darkness as Madara seemingly fell dead. But this was proven to be a fake death.

Who Killed Madara The Second Time?

Madara was “defeated” by Black Zetsu in episode 458 of Naruto Shippuden. Madara resurrects himself fully by sacrificing the defeated Obito and ordering Black Zetsu to take control over Obito’s body to perform the Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique. Then Madara is restored to life, and he unlocks his full potential and breaks free of his restraints. Suddenly, Black Zetsu stabs Madara, gaining control over his body. Later, Black Zetsu says that it was never Madara’s will but Kaguya’s. Now, Madara swells in size, and Kaguya takes his place. Eventually, Madara dies because of the toll of both the tailed beasts and Demonic Statue removed from his body. Before dying, Madara thinks about the friendship of Hashirama and also agrees with him when he says that they both are still friends despite everything that has happened between them.
