Married at First Sight is a reality TV show in America that premiered on July 8, 2014, on the FYI channel and later moved to Lifetime. The series is based on a Danish show called “Gift Ved Første Blik” which first aired on September 4, 2013, on DR3. The format of the original Danish series has been licensed to broadcasters worldwide.
In the fifteen seasons of MAFS, a total of 59 couples have been matched. On Decision Day, 43 of them decided to remain married, but almost two-thirds of them have subsequently divorced, filed for divorce, or publicly announced their split. As of February 2024, only 12 couples were still together.
Fans who had high hopes that Amelia and Bennett would be among the few Married at First Sight couples who would make it are now disappointed following news of their separation. Some fans felt that the pair were well-suited to each other, but others believed that Amelia’s demanding profession and Bennett’s deep-rooted connections to New Orleans could have contributed to their relationship woes.
A few individuals even thought that they were better off as friends rather than spouses. From the outset, there were indications that Amelia was not completely committed to the Married at First Sight concept. In a 2020 interview, she admitted that she only participated in the show for fun and not because she wanted to get married.
Bennett, on the other hand, did not plan on getting married but ended up on the show after a casting director contacted him, and they spoke at length, leading to his decision to participate in the process.
Bennett and Amelia made the decision to stay together and get married on Decision Day of Married at First Sight. However, on October 14, 2021, the couple publicly announced their divorce without stating any specific reasons for their split, which left fans wondering about what went wrong. Some individuals were not entirely surprised by the news.
Within a few days of the announcement, people began speculating that Amelia’s intense medical career and Bennett’s strong ties to New Orleans may have caused difficulties in their relationship. Due to Amelia’s lack of commitment to the show, many fans believed that the couple would be better off as friends, and their romantic involvement would not last in the long run.
Following their split, it’s worth discussing what Married, at First Sight, season 11’s beloved couple, Bennett Kirschner and Amelia Fatsi, have been up to. The quirky duo were married on the show in July 2020 and remained together for around a year before ending their marriage. Bennett and Amelia were considered an ideal match as both were free-spirited and eccentric, without bringing much drama to the show, which many viewers appreciated.
On Decision Day, the couple chose to remain together, with Bennett even getting a tattoo of Amelia’s initials. During the reunion, they revealed that they were relocating to Virginia, but later filed for divorce. Bennett appears content and has amassed 110,000 Instagram followers, while Amelia boasts 116,000 fans on the platform.
