Win The Wilderness Where Are They Now? Everything You Need To Know

Win The Wilderness Wiki

“Win the Wilderness: Alaska”, a British TV competition produced by Twofour, offers the opportunity for six British couples to compete against each other in various challenges in order to impress an elderly couple who own a homestead near Denali National Park in Alaska. The grand prize is the ownership of the homestead, which belonged to Duane and Rena Ose. Duane Ose claims to have been the last homesteader in the US to file a claim under the Homestead Act of 1862 in 1986, having hiked to the homestead in 1982. The Oses constructed the homestead, named Ose Mountain, by hand using logs from their forest, and it is situated approximately 100 miles from the nearest road, only accessible via its own airfield.

What happened to Win The Wilderness Winners?

Duane and his late wife Rena had lived on the homestead before retiring to Minnesota. After Mark and Emily won the competition, they spent a month living with Duane and Rena before returning to the UK. However, due to the pandemic, they have been unable to physically claim the property. Duane became romantically involved with a woman named Ellie-Mae Blair after Rena’s death, and Mark and Emily suspect that she may have influenced him as he became distant from them. Duane has since made vitriolic posts on Facebook, lashing out at the couple and claiming he wants to return to the homestead, which is only accessible by plane. Mark and Emily have been ignored by Duane despite their attempts to contact him. On Facebook, he has claimed he wants to reclaim his legacy and home from “faux foreigners” who do not care about his wishes.
